Tony D’Angelo has grown steadily within WWE NXT over the past three years, building a resume that includes two NXT Tag Team Championships, the NXT Heritage Cup, and his current reign as the NXT North American Champion.
In a recent interview on The Ringer Wrestling Show, D’Angelo shared his emotions after achieving his latest title win, a feat that also ended Oma Femi’s record-setting reign.
“This one was emotional because I climbed a mountain no one thought I could,” D’Angelo expressed. “It meant more emotionally, but having the family with me—guys like Channing Lorenzo, Luca Crusifino, and Adriana Rizzo—got me through tough times. They supported me when I didn’t know what to do, and it all came together perfectly.”
The interview highlighted D’Angelo’s unique position in NXT history as the first superstar to claim the NXT Tag Team Championship, Heritage Cup, and North American Championship. When asked about a potential challenge for Trick Williams’ NXT Championship, D’Angelo showed a mix of ambition and respect.
“Of course, it’s on my mind,” D’Angelo admitted. “But Trick just got it back. I don’t want to take it from him right away. I’ll give him some time, and then we’ll re-evaluate.”
D’Angelo also shared how much the title win meant to his personal family back home. “Their reaction was amazing,” he said. “I can’t describe how excited they were. Knowing you’ve got people in your corner rooting for you is a great feeling.”
This victory marks an important milestone in D’Angelo’s journey, showcasing both his growth as a performer and the support system that has helped him reach new heights.
